Downers Grove Living Magazine proudly celebrated its 5th anniversary. Launched in July 2020 amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Downers Grove Living Magazine was founded on the unwavering commitment to foster connections and uplift the Downers Grove community.
From its very beginning, the magazine’s mission was clear: to create a positive platform dedicated to supporting fellow business owners, non-profits, and fellow residents. Despite the challenging launch period, the magazine quickly resonated with readers and local businesses, who were drawn to its uplifting, community-focused content. As the publication flourished, so did its team, its articles, and its deep-seated love for the community it serves.
“For us, this journey feels like both a lifetime and just yesterday,” shares Brian Steinberg. “We launched during a time when the world felt disconnected and anxious. We felt that fostering connections among neighbors was more vital than ever. The excitement was palpable from the start, and with each passing month, the magazine grew in ways we never imagined.”
As a husband and wife publishing team, the magazine’s dedication goes beyond its pages. Nicky and Brian Steinberg have actively volunteered their time in the community, attending local events, and supporting causes that strengthen Downers Grove.
“At its heart, Downers Grove Living Magazine is a family business,” shares Nicky Steinberg. “We’re committed to showing up, volunteering our time, and offering our support where it’s needed. We truly love what we do and feel incredibly blessed to do it together.”
The anniversary issue is a tribute to the journey and the people who made it possible.
“Our clients truly make all of this possible. Many of whom have been with us since the beginning, and have become much more than clients—they have become friends,” shares Brian.
“Perhaps that’s the true secret to loving what you do: surrounding yourself with good people. People who inspire you to be better, who build you up, and who motivate you to accomplish what once seemed unreachable,” reflects Nicky. “It hasn’t always been easy, but it has absolutely been worth it.”
