Awards Recognize Dedication, Service, and Commitment to University’s Mission
Midwestern University proudly presented its highest honor, the Littlejohn Award, to three outstanding members of its community whose service, leadership, and commitment exemplify the values of the University. This year’s honorees include Kyle K. Henderson, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Physiology; Timothy Pridgen, Clinical Skills Coordinator; and Laura Licari, Pharm.D., alumna of the College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove, Class of 2006.
The Littlejohn Awards, named for the Littlejohn brothers who in 1900 founded the American College of Osteopathy Medicine and Surgery (now Midwestern University), recognize individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to Midwestern University and its mission of excellence in health sciences education. Since 2000, the awards have been presented during the Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner.

Faculty Honoree – Dr. Kyle Henderson
Kyle Henderson, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Physiology, was recognized for his outstanding service, leadership, and mentorship within the University community. A dedicated educator, he has played a vital role in shaping the student experience through his work on key committees, mentorship of student researchers, and advocacy for student wellness and inclusion. Known for his compassion and commitment, Dr. Henderson has gone above and beyond to build a strong sense of community at Midwestern University, often working quietly behind the scenes to ensure that students, faculty, and staff feel supported and valued.
Staff Honoree – Mr. Timothy Pridgen
As Clinical Skills Coordinator, Mr. Pridgen was honored for his indispensable contributions to the success of Midwestern University’s academic programs. For over a decade, he has ensured that faculty, staff, and students have the tools and support they need to thrive as part of his work in the University’s state-of-the-art Simulation Center. Whether setting up complex lab simulations, troubleshooting technical issues, or mentoring new staff, Mr. Pridgen is known for his professionalism, problem-solving skills, and calm demeanor. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence make him a cornerstone of the University’s clinical education programs.
Alumni Honoree – Dr. Laura Licari
A 2006 graduate of the College of Pharmacy–Downers Grove (CPDG), Laura Licari, Pharm.D., was recognized for her distinguished career in pharmacy and her ongoing dedication to the University. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at Roosevelt University and a Managing Network Facilitator for CPESN Networks, Dr. Licari has built a career that bridges community practice, specialty pharmacy, managed care, and academia. A past president of the Illinois Pharmacists Association, she continues to advocate for the advancement of her profession while mentoring future pharmacists. Despite her busy professional life, Dr. Licari remains deeply connected to Midwestern University, serving as President of the CPDG Alumni Council and frequently returning to campus to mentor students.
