SEASPAR’s Believe & Achieve Recognition Banquet, hosted on January 16 at Carlisle Banquets in Lombard, was a radiant evening filled with inspiration, reflection, and heartfelt pride. This cherished annual event brought together SEASPAR participants, staff, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate a year of remarkable achievements and community spirit.
The event was a celebration of SEASPAR participants’ remarkable accomplishments and the dedicated team members who contribute to fulfilling the organization’s mission. Attendees were warmly greeted and delighted to receive goodie bags filled with items generously provided by event sponsors, setting the tone for a night of joy and gratitude.
The evening began with a heartfelt welcome from SEASPAR’s Executive Director, Matthew Corso, who set the stage for an unforgettable night. A touching “Gone But Not Forgotten” slideshow honored one of SEASPAR’s beloved participants, Jerry Fratto, reminding everyone of the profound impact each member has on the community. This was followed by a highlight reel showcasing the year’s successes, reflecting the incredible contributions of participants, families, and staff across SEASPAR’s programs and events.
As guests enjoyed a delicious dinner accompanied by soothing background music, the room was filled with laughter, shared memories, and the unmistakable bond that unites the SEASPAR family.
Awards and Recognitions
The formal program began after dinner, with recognition of SEASPAR’s Board and member entities and a heartfelt thank-you to the event sponsors: Kiddie Academy of Lemont, Team Healy Realtors – Baird & Warner, Downers Grove Park District, Republic Bank, Local Printing and Design, Trader Joe’s Downers Grove, and Arboretum Wealth Management. Their generosity and commitment make SEASPAR’s mission possible.
The night then shifted to the much-anticipated award presentations, celebrating individuals and their extraordinary contributions in 2024:

- Cultural Artist of the Year: Andy Zalabak of Darien
- Rising Star Award: George Boby of La Grange Park
- Shining Star Award: Rachel Meador of Woodridge
- Athlete of the Year: Kendall Wright of La Grange Park
- Staff Leading Light Award: Gianluca Di Nunno of Oak Brook
- Staff Super Star Award: Molly Downing of Western Springs
The program also spotlighted Special Olympics State Athletes, who were recognized for their incredible achievements in various sports. The audience’s applause filled the room, giving evidence to these athletes’ pride and admiration.
A particularly emotional moment came when SEASPAR’s support staff and volunteers were honored. These incredible individuals are the backbone of the organization, devoting their time, energy, and hearts to creating meaningful experiences for participants. The evening concluded with a raffle featuring exciting prizes and a heartwarming participant recognition segment. Guests cheered enthusiastically as each participant’s name was announced and they proudly accepted tokens of appreciation from SEASPAR.
